WHAT WE DO
Interior Painting Services We Handle
Single Room Painting
A bedroom, living room, dining room, home office, or any single interior space. Walls, trim, and ceiling if you want it included. Most single rooms are a one-day job.
Multi-Room and Whole-Interior Painting
Multiple rooms in the same visit, full-floor repaints, and whole-interior projects. Typically two to four days depending on scope and prep needed.
Accent Wall Painting
A single wall in a contrasting color or finish to anchor the room. Common in bedrooms, dining rooms, and home offices. We prep, tape clean transitions, and apply the right number of coats for full coverage.
Trim and Baseboard Painting
Trim, baseboards, crown molding, window casings, and door casings. The detail work that makes a room feel finished. Trim painting takes more time per linear foot than wall painting because clean lines at the wall edge are what makes it look professional. We do this slowly enough to get it right.
Crown Molding Painting
Crown molding refresh in a single room or throughout the home. Often paired with ceiling and wall painting in the same visit.
Interior Door Painting
Interior doors that need a refresh or a color change. We remove doors from the hinges where appropriate, sand and prime the surface properly, and paint with the right finish. Doors with deep panels need brush-and-roll combinations to lay down cleanly.
Cabinet Painting and Refinishing
Kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity cabinets, and built-in cabinet refresh. Cabinet painting is more involved than wall painting because of the prep needed for paint to bond to existing finishes. We clean, degloss, prime, and apply two topcoats with proper drying time between. Door fronts and drawer fronts get the same careful prep as the cabinet boxes.
Ceiling Painting
Smooth ceilings, lightly textured ceilings, and ceiling refresh in single rooms. We paint with the right roller nap for the surface and a lay-down technique that avoids stipple lines and roller marks.
Wall Color Change
Going from a darker color to a lighter color, or any major color change. Usually requires a primer coat plus two topcoats to hide the old color cleanly.
Wall Texture Painting
Walls with orange peel, knockdown, or other textures. The texture catches paint differently than a smooth wall. We use the right roller and the right technique so coverage is even.
Touch-Up Painting
Marks on the wall from furniture. Scuffs in the hallway. Patched drywall that needs blending. Edge wear at high-traffic spots. We touch up using paint you have on hand, or we color-match if the existing paint is no longer available.
Closet and Pantry Painting
Closets, pantries, and small enclosed spaces that get skipped during whole-house repaints. Often the original builder white that has yellowed over the years.
Garage Interior Painting
Garage walls and ceiling. Common refresh project before selling a home or after a garage cleanup. We use the right product for a humid garage environment so the paint holds.
Furniture and Built-In Painting
Bookcases, mantels, hutches, and built-in furniture that need a refresh or color change. Cleaned, sanded, primed, and topcoated with proper drying time between coats.
Common Interior Painting Jobs We Handle
Refresh Before a Move-In or Move-Out
A clean repaint before moving into a new Houston home or before listing your current home. Walls, trim, and touch-ups in the rooms that show.
Yellowed Trim and Cabinets
White trim and cabinets that have yellowed over time, especially in older Heights and Montrose homes. Proper prep and the right primer give you a clean white again.
Smoke and Cooking Stain Removal
Kitchen and dining room walls that have absorbed cooking residue or smoke. We clean, prime with a stain-blocking primer, and topcoat so the stains do not bleed through.
Wall Patch Blending
Drywall patches that have been done but the paint blending was never finished. We feather paint into the surrounding wall so the patch disappears.
Single Room Color Change
A bedroom, bathroom, or home office that needs a different color than the rest of the house. We prep, tape clean transitions at the trim and ceiling, and apply the right coats for clean coverage.
Front Door Interior Painting
The inside of the front door, often skipped during whole-house painting. A clean refresh in the color of your trim or in a contrasting color.
Painted Wallpaper Refresh
Painted wallpaper that has been on the wall for years and needs a fresh coat. We assess the wallpaper condition first and address any lifting seams before painting.
WHAT WE HANDLE
Why Interior Paint in Houston Needs the Right Approach
Three Houston-specific factors affect how interior paint holds up and how it should be applied:
- Humidity: Houston’s interior humidity, even with air conditioning, affects paint cure times. Latex paint applied in a humid space takes longer to dry between coats and longer to cure to full hardness. We schedule coat timing accordingly, especially in bathrooms and kitchens.
- Foundation movement and cracks: Painted-over cracks at door and window corners reopen as foundations shift seasonally. We caulk and prep cracks with the right product before paint goes on, which holds longer than a quick paint-only repair.
- Older homes: Houston homes built before 1978 may have lead paint underneath current finishes, particularly on original trim in Heights and Montrose. We work with appropriate prep methods on older homes and will let you know if anything specific to your home affects the approach.

Interior Painting FAQs
Who does interior painting in Houston for small jobs?
Done Right Houston paints interior spaces at any scale. Single rooms, multiple rooms, trim, doors, cabinets, ceilings, and touch-ups. One call, one team, clean lines and a finish that holds.
How much does interior painting cost in Houston?
Cost depends on the room size, wall condition, whether trim and doors are included, and the paint product. Fill out the estimate form with your details and we will respond within 24 hours with a clear price.
Do you supply the paint?
You can supply the paint or we will pick it up for you. Most homeowners pick the color at Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or Home Depot and either bring it home or have us pick it up. Let us know which approach you prefer when you book.
What paint finish should I use in each room?
For most Houston interiors: matte or eggshell on bedroom and living room walls (hides imperfections), satin on hallway and kitchen walls (easier to wipe clean), satin or semi-gloss on bathroom walls (handles moisture), semi-gloss on trim and doors (durable and easy to clean), and flat on ceilings (no glare). For Houston bathrooms specifically, paint with mildew-resistant additives is worth the small price increase given the humidity. We can advise when you book.
What paint brands do you work with?
Any major brand. Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, PPG. The brand matters less than the quality tier you choose within the brand. Higher tiers cover better, last longer, and clean easier. We can advise on tier for the room when you book.
Do you paint cabinets?
Yes. Kitchen cabinet painting, bathroom vanity cabinet painting, and built-in cabinet painting are all in scope. Cabinet painting is more involved than wall painting because of the prep needed for paint to bond to factory-finished cabinets. We clean, degloss, prime, and apply two topcoats with proper drying time. Door fronts and drawer fronts get extra attention because they take the most use.
How many coats of paint do you apply?
Two topcoats is standard. Some color changes (going from dark to light, or covering a stain) need a primer coat first plus two topcoats. We will tell you upfront if your job needs a primer coat so the price reflects it.
How long does interior painting take?
A single bedroom is typically a one-day job. A whole-floor interior repaint takes two to three days depending on size and scope. Cabinet painting is a two-to-three-day project due to drying time between coats. We give you a realistic schedule when you book.
Can you do touch-ups using my existing paint?
Yes, if you have the paint on hand. If the existing paint is no longer available, we can color-match at any major paint store, though color matching is not always exact. Touch-ups using original paint always blend better than matched paint.
Do you paint over wallpaper?
In most cases removing the wallpaper first is the better path. Painting directly over wallpaper can work in some situations but the seams often show through and the paper can lift over time. We will assess your specific situation and walk you through the options.
Why does my paint job in Houston not last as long as it should?
Two main reasons. First, humidity affects how paint cures. If a paint job goes up during high-humidity months and a second coat is applied before the first has properly dried, the bond is weaker and the finish wears faster. We schedule coat timing around drying conditions. Second, prep was skipped. If walls were painted over dust, grease, or chipped paint without proper cleaning, sanding, or priming, the paint comes off easily. The prep work is most of the job. We do not skip it.
Can you paint over old trim that has been painted many times?
Yes, with proper prep. Many older Heights and Montrose homes have trim that has been painted 5 or 10 times over the decades. We sand, fill imperfections, prime where needed, and topcoat cleanly. Heavily caked trim sometimes benefits from selective stripping rather than another coat. We will walk through what your trim needs when we look at the job.
Do you paint exterior surfaces too?
This page covers interior work. Tell us when you book if you have exterior painting in mind and we will let you know what we can scope for you.
